Architectural Design Studio 1
Project 1: Self-Expression through Object ‘REPRESENTING ME ‘
This ice-breaking design project is an introduction of the basic methods and approaches in generation of ideas and conceptual narratives. This shall be achieved through the exploration and creative representation of one self. Students will be exposed to various means of exploring ideas by translating it through artworks and expressions on specific various art forms of personal interests, the student will be given freedom to communicate and express form and come up with an abstracted form of one self. The final outcome of the project can take shape either as a piece of a three-dimensional form of an artwork (example: masks, sculptural form, pop-up model, hand glove and others)

Reflection
Through this assignment I am able to express myself in the abstract and 3D form of art. With that I'm required to brainstorm and think of ideas that are creatively unique and special, exploring what that is within me.

Project 2: Self Representation through Architectural Space
‘LIFE CAPSULE’
The main aim of Project 2 is to expand the interpretation of one self and heighten the awareness of students about the human body, interaction of space and body, and explores the role of reasoning and logic in shaping the form and space. Secondly, a group work to allow collaborating of ideas. The group will pick one of their members which will become the user of the capsule. All design components will be based on the chosen group member’s body dimensions and the occupation that he/she will portray (painter, artist, photographer, scientist, musician, writer or other).
This involves designing ‘Life Capsule’ a confined space which will have multi-functional furniture which the user can use for several position and activities within a 24 hours period. Project consists of two major stages 2: Interim Presentation “The Shell’ which the student will allow to design the life capsule envelope and Project 2: Final Presentation “Furnitecture’ wherein student will creatively design multi-functional furniture to address users various positions (seating, lying down, reading, painting and others) through its activities. In a limited space challenge you to thoroughly examine and consider anthropometry and ergonomics.
Project 2 enhances student analytical skills through designing a limited space which will explore design more through scaled models and then is blown up to a full scaled installation.

Reflection
In my opinion, this project requires lots of hardwork, effort and most importantly: TEAMWORK. At the beggining it was choosing the client, with that we chose the smallest sized in our group to ease the building process. Then, it was coming up with ideas and brainstorming to come up with a mockup model that is the beggining of our journey of building this lifecapsule. All in all, we progressed through many sleepless nights cutting and building the model and all the hard work and effort finally paid off.

Project 3a: Story Telling and Narrative: ’MY Building, MY Architecture’
Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Project 3: ‘Dream space for the User –‘A HIDE OUT’
In project 1, students were allowed to express oneself through their creative means; Project 2 on the other hand is meant to prepare students to be aware on the relationship between user and space, shaping space and articulation of form. Project 3 on the other hand it incorporates both the creativity and its functionality.
Students are required to design a space for you by attaching it to the walls/surfaces of an imagined ‘city’ on an empty abandoned lot in between two buildings. The space is to fit a specific need of the user (as a hideout space for viewing, transitional space, space for viewing, space for dreaming, space showcasing and so to speak a getaway space for the user who wants to be alone) that best fits the personality, occupation and character of the person that the user you are designing for.
This understanding is to be architecturally translated into a space that successfully establishes the quality of the interior and articulation of exterior. Concept shall evidently show the experiential and spatial quality. Students are also to consider how design is to be attached and harmonize with the two existing buildings. Additional considerations should also be given to human scale and dimensional requirements.

Reflection
This project helps me kickstart my imaginations of exploring my dream client, the master of innovation: Steve Jobs. Through reading through his bio, it inspired me to go beyond my imaginations and build a design that functions, not only just about the looks and feels of it. It also taught me how to work like an architect especially going through the design process & building the model.
